Carlo Deason competed in the 5K road race and Track & Field (800m and 1500m) at 2nd World Outgames in Copenhagen, Denmark this past summer.  The World Outgames bring together lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) athletes from around the world for a celebration of sport, culture and human rights. Carlo was a member of a sports delegation from Houston, TEAM HOUSTON,  which  led off the entire team from the United States during the Opening Ceremony.  Carlo won two gold medals (5K road race and 1500 m) and one silver medal (800 m).  As a board member of the Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association-North America (GLISA-NA), Carlo was also invited to  attend a sports reception hosted by the Copenhagen Mayor of Culture and Leisure, Pia Alleslez.   One of the big highlights of the trip for Carlo was meeting Mads Andersen,  a Danish Olympian who won a gold medal in rowing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fall.
